‘Ametumia felt pen kwa kichwa?’ Sonko’s hair sends KOT into fits of laughter
A gold jacket, gold ring, gold chair, gold-plated table, white cap and two flags: these were the items seen in the picture of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday.
He seemed to have asked someone to take a picture of him signing the letter that nominated Anne Mwenda as his deputy.
However, something else caught the attention of Kenyans online: the appearance of Sonko’s hair.
It was not an unusual color but the glossy black look made it conspicuous enough to stand out from the rest of the items in the room.
Below are some of the comments from Kenyans on Twitter:
“Anapakia watu kiwi kwa kichwa bana…. Can’t be me,” @mc_amoke said while @jillkui added: “Ametumia felt pen kwa kichwa.”
Media personality Sheila Mwanyigha also joined the conversation saying: “A hairy situation…” as another Twitter user identified as Sharon posed: “Amepaka kiwi kwa kichwa ndo akili ishine?”
“Hero ink ile ya black,” Brian Kuira said jokingly as @trevorsudi added: “nywele inakaa imechorwa.”
Sonko’s hair was also likened to the work of a matatu graffiti artist known as Mohammed Ali, who was once featured on Forbes magazine.
“Hiyo kichwa ni kazi ya Mohaa Grafixx,” said @kenKennedy75.
But for one Willy Wahungu, Sonko’s hair had a striking similarity with a seal-coated road.
“Nani alimpaka lami kwa kichwa?” he posed as one @pudgy93503477 replied: “Scratch to reveal.”
Gitonga Kariuki further ridiculed the Governor saying: “his situation has ‘dyed’.
Wilson wa Gitau however strayed away from the conversation on Sonko’s hair instead criticizing the pen picture in his hand.
“All those display of jewelery and gold plated furniture but using a 50/= ball pen. Some things Money cannot buy. Classless and tacky,” he said.
