ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka resigns

Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Barrack Muluka has resigned in a statement written to the Party Leader, Musalia Mudavadi.

Muluka noted that having completed the tasks assigned to him; publishing Mudavadi’s biography and helping reorganize and strengthen the party it was time to seek new horizons.

“I doubt I could add more value to what I have done so far, more over it is not fitting that the space around you should be decongested, this will allow you to make critical decisions on th population and leadership,” the statement reads.

Muluka also instructed the Registrar of Political parties to expunge his name from the ANC party membership saying he currently belongs to no party or organisation.

The latest comes just after the party announced that it would make amends to its constituition that will see Mudavadi being barred from deputising any in 2022.

The proposed changes will therefore hand Mudavadi an automatic 2022 presidential ticke from the party.

Further, the changes will require Mudavadi to seek the approval of the National Governing Council should he want to be a running mate.

In late July, ANC endorsed Mudavadi as its presidential candidate in an agreement sealed at its headquarters in Nairobi.

Mudavadi accepted the endorsement, saying he is ready to square it out with other presidential hopefuls in 2022.
