Anti-corruption detectives raid home of Pyrethrum boss

Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have conducted a swoop on Pyrethrum Board boss Paul Lolwerikoi’s residence.

The sting operation occured following public outcry over alleged corrupt deals, an official from the agency said.

South Rift Deputy Manager Christine Natome told reporters that they had obtained a search warrant on Thursday for houses and offices belonging to the company’s acting managing director, accountant and marketing manager.

According to her, crucial documents were retrieved and the investigating officers would refer to them to decide whether any charges will be brought against the managers.

No arrests were made but the trio underwent questioning for over five hours, Ms Natome said, adding that findings of the investigations would be released in accordance with the law.

The raid came in the wake of an ambitious campaign by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to revive the pyrethrum sector.
