Anti graft bodies castigated for failing to tame corruption

Nandi County Senator Stephen Sang has condemned anti-corruption bodies for failing to take stern action against people implicated in corruption scandals.

Mr Sang said the bodies have treated corruption scandals with too much leniency, causing more cases of looting to take place by allowing the looters to go scot free.

“The serious corruption cases we see in Nairobi are being replicated in the counties,” said Sang, while speaking during a funeral in Kapsabet.

“It is shameless for individuals to take the country through side shows, using scapegoats when they themselves are the perpetrators of corruption,” remarked the senator.

“We cannot allow these institutions to keep taking the country in a circus and for us to keep losing billions,” he added.

Elsewhere, Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said he is ready to appear before the Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) to answer to any allegations regarding the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

The senator, while addressing a public gathering in his county, said he is ready to appear before the PAC, adding that former Devolution CS Ann Waiguru should be ready for prosecution over the graft allegations.

“I am ready to appear to PAC to answer to any allegations and Waiguru should be ready to appear before court for her accusations,” he said.

The senator has in the recent past boldly dismissed Ms Waiguru, claiming she should be prosecuted for being allegedly involved in corruption.
