AP officer stabs man to death during fight over woman at Homa Bay bar

An Administration Police (AP) officer on Monday night allegedly stabbed to death a 36-year-old man at a bar in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, during a fight over a woman.

Alphonce Owiti Apolo died after the officer attached to Nguku AP post reportedly stabbed him on the stomach.

According to an eye-witness who spoke to Citizen Digital, a fight broke out when the deceased and the officer were sharing a drink together with the woman before a fight broke out between them over her (woman’s) affection.

The woman reportedly rushed to a nearby hall where revelers were watching an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match between Kenya and Senegal to call for help.

Confirming the incident, Homa-Bay County Deputy Police Commander Samuel Obara said a team of multi-agency investigators have since been dispatched to the ground to establish the motive of the attack.

The officer is yet to be arrested while the body of the deceased was moved to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital mortuary.
