Archbishop Muheria: Kenya’s COVID-19 situation should not be overshadowed by BBI politics

The chairperson of the Interfaith Council on the National Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic and Nyeri Archibishop Anthony Muheria now says that the dire COVID-19 situation in the country should not be overshadowed by BBI politics.

He spoke to Citizen Digital from the Mater Hospital where he has been for the past week after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

At the same time, he appealed to Kenyans to be ambassadors of the guidelines and protocols issued by the Ministry of Health to avert the spread of the coronavirus.

Our news desk has learnt that the clergy man was taken off oxygen support on Monday evening and is on the journey towards full recovery.

Archbishop Muheria who has been on the front line of the COVID-19 fight said the current BBI political discourse should not overshadow the fight against the pandemic in the country.

“Keep those prayers coming and please do not let the BBI buzz muzzle what is really Important at the moment!” he said

Political gatherings especially the recent BBI popularization tours where leaders and civilians mingled in abandon have been largely blamed for the fast spreading virus which has infected 70,804 people in the country and killed at least 1,287 since March.
