Police officers prepare Thanksgiving feast for orphans

Orphaned children from Ark Children’s Home in Kambakia, Meru County were on Sunday treated to a Thanksgiving feast after Meru Administration Police officers donated bags of food and clothing to the home.

The police officers treated the children to sodas and biscuits and attended a Sunday service with them as a way of celebrating Thanksgiving.

Speaking during the service, Administration Police Chaplain Alex Chomba said the move was a way of reaching out to the community to create rapport between the men in uniform and the public.

“It is part of our annual based policy of trying to reach out to the people, they should know that we are not beasts, we are humans just as they are,” said Chomba.

According to the chaplain, the police force needed to frequently hold appearances with members of the public, to reduce cases of brutality and correct the image of the police in the public.

“All we want to tell people is that the police have changed and we can now live together,” said Chomba.
