Armed thugs attack DCI officers who were following drug peddlers, 56 bales of bhang recovered

A police officer is nursing injuries after he was attacked by suspects who were trafficking drugs on Monday morning.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives acting on intelligence had information that a cache of drugs was to be transported to an undisclosed location via Isiolo.

Officers from the DCI working closely with officers from the police service were then dispatched to track down the drug dealers.

However, on reaching the Lukole area, the officers were attacked by an armed gang with one officer sustaining injuries on his right arm.

The officers sent a distress call for reinforcement and managed to stop a motor vehicle of registration number KBB 333W loaded with 56 bales bhang.

One suspect Harrison Gitobu was arrested during the incident with detectives saying they are pursuing several other suspects who fled the scene.
