Armed thugs break into missing Eldoret lawyers office

Armed thugs broke into the private office of Eldoret-based lawyer Simon Lilan who has been missing for the last ten days.

According to a night guard at the premise, this was the second time such a break-in happened after they had been repulsed on Monday night. The thugs, however, managed to make away with unknown items.

Speaking after the incident, Sally Lilan, the lawyer’s sister, and his brother John Talam called on the government to intervene and intensify investigations into the lawyer’s whereabouts.

Lilan went missing on the morning of January 9, the day when the High Court sitting in Eldoret vacated the order to stop the burial of Mr Too, which took place at his Maziwa farm in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on Saturday, Eldoret West OCPD, Samuel Mutunga said Lilan’s phone is still off and they are investigating if he has been communicating with his family since the day he went missing.

Mutunga said a team of officers have been set to investigate his whereabouts saying he has been reported countrywide as a missing person.

Lilan went to court to stop the burial of Mark Too saying an independent post-mortem should be conducted to know what killed him, noting that his death was political.

The information has been opposed by the late Mark Too’s family through a sworn affidavit noting that they go as per the results released by the pathologists at Lee Funeral Home that the politician had died of a heart attack.
