Armed thugs captured on CCTV stealing goods worth Ksh.3M from shop in Kisii
Police in Kisii have arrested a security
guard in Tabaka following a break in at a business premise on Sunday morning.
The owner of the business outlet says he has
lost valuables worth Ksh.3 million, with the one-hour robbery captured on CCTV
cameras.
At around 2am on the said day, armed men
donned in heavy jackets were seen breaking into the business premise which also
serves as a banking agent for three different banks.
A man in a black hood is seen making frantic
efforts to gain access to the customer service area where money is kept.
He physically struggles to go through the
opening in vain; moments later the CCTV footage captures his colleagues
breaking the door and finally gaining access to the building.
The robbers hurriedly picked cash worth more
than Ksh.500,000 in addition to other valuables like laptops and all brand new
phones on display.
The armed robbers spent a whole hour ransacking
the building before leaving.
A broken Joshua Onguso, the owner of the business,
said the loss is massive, noting; “Nimeshangaa sana hii ni pigo kwangu, na mimi
sijawahi.kosea mtu.”
Police have since arrested the security guard
who was not around at the time despite reporting on duty the very same night.
“Wakati tuliandika statement na huyo soldier
mara ya kwanza aliachwa kisha mara ya pili akakamatwa na mpaka sahii anasaidia
askari kwa uchunguzi,” added Onguso.
Locals say the insecurity around Tabaka area
is getting out of hand especially at night and needs to be dealt with urgently.
Security teams are currently trailing the
suspects who have since gone into hiding.
