Arrest warrant issued against Babu Owino

A warrant of arrest has been issued against Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino and his bodyguard Fanuel Owino.

Magistrate Martha Mutuku issued the order after the two failed to appear in court for the mention of a case where they are accused of assault.

Babu Owino and his bodyguard were charged on January 22, 2018 for allegedly attacking David Gichagu at Fortis Towers in Westlands, Nairobi, on January 11.

The two are said to have committed the crime with accomplices who were not in court.

Babu Owino was separately charged with two other counts of using abusive language and creating disturbance.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the two pleaded not guilty and were freed on a personal bond of Ksh.20,000 each.

The mention of the case had been set for 5th February 2018.
