Arsenal F.C to honour student Carilton Maina shot dead in Nairobi
English Premier League giants Arsenal Football Club will on Tuesday night honour the late Leeds University student, Carilton David Maina, who was shot dead in Kibra late last year.
The deceased, who was on long holiday and had decided to visit his family in Kenya, was allegedly shot dead by police officers on the morning of December 22, 2018 while he was on his way home from watching a football match.
Arsenal F.C is now set to do a citation in honour of the late Maina during their premier league match against Cardiff City which kicks off at 10:45pm (East African Time) at the Emirates Stadium.
“We were very sad to hear of the recent death of Arsenal Kenya member, Carilton David Maina, aged just 22. Born in Africa’s biggest slum Kibera, Carilton excelled academically, winning a scholarship to study engineering in Leeds which enabled him to visit his beloved Emirates Stadium to see his heroes,” reads the official program for the match.
“Maina adored Arsenal and watched every match he could. Our thoughts are with Carilton’s family and friends.”
