Aspirant Opposes Direct Nomination of Kariuki

This comes barley a week after the Court of Appeal nullified the election of TNA’s George Wanjohi as area MP.

Anthony Oluoch now wants the party to hold nominations to select the ODM candidate for the Mathare by election.

Oluoch was speaking at Orange House on Monday morning after he marched with his supporters to the ODM offices to protest calls by Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba to give direct nomination to Kariuki.

ODM says the Mathare seat is theirs to reclaim, arguing that Kariuki’s victory was allegedly stolen.

The poll body, IEBC initially declared him the winner before rescinding the decision citing wrong tallying.

ODM won four of the six County Assembly Ward representative seats in last year’s election in the constituency while TNA won the remaining 2 wards

At the same time, TNA has given direct nomination to Mary Wambui to defend her Othaya parliamentary seat which she lost through an election petition.

She will be given the nomination certificate tomorrow, Tuesday at the TNA head offices.

Wanjohi has declared his intention to challenge the nullification of his election in the Supreme Court.
