At least 40 goats stolen in Kasiela, Baringo in fresh attack

Armed cattle raiders on Tuesday night attacked Kasiela village in Baringo where they stole at least 40 goats from a family that had just moved back after it had relocated at the height of insecurity in the region.

A local resident, John Wendot, told Citizen Digital that following the attacks, tension is ripe in the village which had just started to enjoy relative calm following the security operation to flush out bandits.

Residents claim the stolen goats were driven towards Lorumoru to be hidden in the thickets of Mukutani cliffs.

Wendot revealed that the heavily armed bandits have been pushed out of Arabal, Kiserian and Ngelecha in the ongoing security operation and are reportedly hiding in the Lorumoru hills and Kaptuya within Mukutani.

Now, some families have started shifting fearing for more attacks, a migration that may paralyze learning in local schools.

The attack happened in spite ongoing peace caravans in Tiaty and Laikipia by leaders in an attempt to restore peace.

Efforts to reach the Baringo County Commissioner to comment on the attack did were fruitless as his mobile phone was off.
