Atwoli Expresses Concern Over NSSF Funds

According to COTU boss Francis Atwoli, the latest Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) report shows Pinebridge now controls 156 billion shillings against NSSF’s 136 billion.

In a statement to newsrooms, the COTU boss says the trend is worrying to Kenyan workers as it comes at a time when government is pushing to implement the new NSSF Act 2013 seeking to raise workers’ remittances to the fund.

Atwoli said that COTU has time and again reiterated its calls to the government to initiate deliberate measures to bring reforms to the NSSF but this had not been so.

He claimed that the reforms are necessary at NSSF to help it tackle the 'massive financial scandals'

He claimed that the scandals had led to poor performance in terms of assets’ growth.

Atwoli is now warning that with the release of the full year report by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), workers will have every reason to lose confidence in NSSF.

He further warned that if their calls for reforms at NSSF are not heeded, they may be forced to review their support for NSSF.
