Aukot confirms he will participate in Oct 26th race

Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate Dr. Ekuru Aukot has confirmed his participation in the October 26th fresh election.

Speaking to the media in Nairobi, Aukot regretted the current political environment which he said has adversely affected the country’s economy.

While accusing the government of irresponsibly handling the situation, Aukot has also called on the opposition coalition NASA and Jubilee Party leaders to put the country first despite their deep rooted ideological differences.

Aukot who was accompanied by his running mate Emmanuel Nzai also indicated that he will soon announce the way forward on his candidature after the move by the electoral body,IEBC, to include all former presidential candidates in the October 26th repeat election.

This comes barely a week after Aukot was allowed to run for the highest seat in the land following a High Court ruling that saw him included in the repeat election slated for October 26th 2017.

In a ruling delivered by Justice John Mativo, the court further directed the electoral body IEBC, to amend the gazette notice and include him as a candidate in the repeat poll.

Speaking after the ruling, Aukot however said that the electoral body, IEBC ,should undergo reforms to ensure that  mistakes that led to the nullification of the August 8 presidential election are not repeated.
