Aukot wants Chebukati, Chiloba out
Third way Alliance Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot now wants IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, CEO Ezra Chiloba ICT Director James Muhati to resign before the repeat presidential election.
Aukot says the electoral body must be reformed to enable Kenyans have confidence in the Commission.
“The IEBC was determined by the Supreme Court to have committed irregularities and illegalities on how it conducted the election… hence our call for them to resign sin order that trust and confidence could be restored in IEBC” said Aukot
“We are not interested in disbanding the entire IEBC, we fix the bad elements” he added
Speaking here in Nairobi, Aukot expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will direct IEBC to include other presidential candidates apart from President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA candidate Raila Odinga in the repeat presidential election.
“It is our prayer as a party that the Supreme Court will agree with our interpretation of the ruling of 1st September and allow us to contest because we were all affected by the irregularities and illegalities committed by IEBC.” posed Aukot
However speaking earlier today at Parliament buildings, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale has criticized NASA for calling for the resignation of top IEBC officials saying the law must be followed in the sacking of electoral officials.
