Auma Obama calls out brother Malik over fake Barack Obama birth certificate

Auma Obama has led Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) in castigating her brother Malik for posting a supposedly fake birth certificate of their sibling and former U.S President Barack Obama.

This comes as the latest in what has been a consistent attempt by Malik to publicly discredit President Obama (his half brother) since he rose to the U.S presidency.

Malik took to Twitter late night on Monday to post what has emerged to have been a fake birth certificate of President Obama which indicated that he was born on August 4, 1961 at the Coast General Hospital, Mombasa, in the Republic of Kenya.

KOT were however quick to note that Kenya only became a republic in 1964, hence it was impossible for President Obama to have been born in the ‘Republic of Kenya’ in 1961.

Others were also keen enough to zoom in and discover that the seal at the bottom of the certificate showing that it originated from the Office of the Principal Registrar of the Coast Province actually read ‘Australia’ and not Kenya.

Auma Obama, in her response, said Malik is consumed and driven by jealousy and bitterness towards President Obama “that you will go to any length to slander your younger brother’s name-literally.”

“Just because he has outshone you in every single aspect of his life. Seek relevance elsewhere big brother,” she added.

The issue of President Obama’s birth is a conspiracy theory – now christened the ‘birther movement’ – dating back to 2008 that was initiated by current U.S President Donald Trump.

Trump, in the theory, alleged that Obama was born outside the United States of America hence was ineligible to run for presidency in the country.

The claim was however dismissed when, in April 2011, Obama released his long-form birth certificate which showed that he was born in Hawaii, a state in the U.S.

The certificate revealed that Obama was born on August 4, 1961 at the Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii.
