Avoid church campaigns, IEBC warns Migori Senate seat aspirants

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission( IEBC) has warned Migori senatorial by-election candidates against extending their campaigns to churches.

IEBC commissioner Abdi Guliye and Migori county returning officer Ruth Kulundu said plans to conduct the Migori mini-poll are complete even as the commission meets on Saturday with poll observers.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mr. Guliye affirmed that the electoral body will commence dispatching of elections materials to the 826 polling stations on Sunday from 2pm in readiness for the Monday elections.

The Migori by-election has attracted five aspirants: Peter Jobando (Green Congress Party), Eddy Oketch (Federal Party of Kenya), Ochilo Ayacko (ODM) as well as independent candidates Samuel Otieno and Dickson Ogolla.

The Migori Senate seat became vacant following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello who passed away on June 19.
