Seven people were on Monday killed in a road accident at Shelui area in Tanzania, among them five Azam Media Group crew members.

Three other people sustained injuries during the crash that reportedly occurred when the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a lorry.

The deceased and survivors were headed to Chato where they were scheduled to cover an event officiated by President John Pombe Magufuli on Tuesday.

The 5 Azam Media crew members who died in the crash, according to sources who spoke to The Citizen, are camera men Said Haji and Charles Wandwi; Salim Mhando (switcher); Florance Ndibalema (sound); and Kasongo (engineer).

Azam Media Group is however yet to issue an official statement.
