'Baba, while you were away' man in ODM nomination list

A diehard supporter of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga famously known for coining the ‘Baba, while you were away’ slogan has been proposed for nomination as a member of the Nairobi County Assembly.

Mr Japheth Moroko rose to fame in May 2014 when he coined the phrase to welcome home and update Raila on the failings of Jubilee admnistration following his three-month sojourn in the United States.

The self-proclaimed activist made headlines again in May 2016 when he was badly injured by the police during street demos organized by CORD seeking to disband the then Ahmed Issack Hassan-led electoral commission.

However, Mr Maroko has hinted that he will not accept the nomination if Raila fails to clinch the presidency in the August 8 General Election.
