Baba Yao wants Odinga to testify at The Hague

Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu alias ‘Baba Yao’ has challenged the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga to testify at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in favour of Deputy President William Ruto and radioman Joshua Arap Sang, who supported him during the contested 2007 presidential elections.

Speaking during the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Teret and Athinai camps, Waititu said that both Jubilee and CORD leaders had absolved the Deputy President from perpetrating the 2007/08 post election violence in which over 1,300 people were killed and over 600,000 others displaced.

Waititu added that CORD leader’s elder brother Oburu Odinga had accepted to testify at the ICC to prove that Ruto was innocent.

“We want the CORD leader Raila Odinga to go and testify at the ICC to allow our Deputy President Wlliam Ruto to be free of the charges facing him,” said ‘Baba Yao’.

Waititu’s comments come even as President Uhuru Kenyatta is facing accusations of playing a pivotal role in fixing his deputy at the ICC by Mr. Odinga and his CORD team.

Odinga claimed that this was evident following recent remarks by the controversial Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria who has been naming people who allegedly coached witnesses for the ICC.

“Kuria’s remarks are emanating from President Kenyatta and  he Uhuru should come clear and tell the Kenyans his role in DP Ruto’s site,” Odinga stated.

In a statement to the newsrooms, Odinga alleged that Kuria was acting for Kenyatta while procuring witnesses for the ICC.

“Kenyans need to know other equally critical facts that Mr. Kuria and the Jubilee brigade are not talking about in the regard to the case against Mr. Ruto. Moses Kuria was an employee and a political assistant to Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta when he arranged the procuring of witnesses to fix Deputy President William Ruto,” read the statement.

Odinga said the work Kuria did during the course of his employment must be presumed to have been done for and on behalf of his Principal Uhuru Kenyatta.
