Babies stolen from Voi, Kisii hospitals found

Just a day after Citizen TV highlighted a story on how two children were stolen from Moi Hospital, Voi and Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, the two babies were on Thursday, September 29 found.

Kemunto Ratemo, who was only three months old, was stolen from Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital on Monday, September 26, but found on Thursday, September 29. The baby was found next to the hospital’s blood bank facility.

Kemunto, whose captor was captured by CCTV cameras as she tried to flee the hospital premises, was examined by doctors to ascertain her condition after the ordeal.

The baby had been separated from her mother who had given her to a good Samaritan to hold her as she visited the washrooms only to find the two missing.

The mother, however, thanked the media and the police for helping her in tracing the baby.

Elsewhere, another baby who disappeared Wednesday, September 28 from Moi Referral Hospital in Voi was found in Mwakingali village, a few kilometers from the hospital.

The baby was found abandoned in a room in the area.

According the mother, the baby went missing minutes after she left her bed.

Witnesses claim the suspected assailant had pretended to be a maternity patient, before going through the hospital’s back door with the baby.

Police are holding a middle-aged man linked to the case.
