Babu Owino appeals his election nullification

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has filed a notice of appeal seeking to challenge last week’s High Court decision.

The embattled MP, whose election was annulled last week says that he is dissatisfied with the decision delivered by Justice Joseph Sergon saying he intends to appeal against the whole decision.

Justice Sergon on Friday nullified the election of Babu Owino as Embakasi East Member of Parliament owing to irregularities and ordered that a by-election be carried out.

After a court ordered vote recount, Babu Owino got 46,817 votes against the petitioner, Francis Mureithi, who garnered 42,501 votes.

Both Owino and Mureithi also registered an increase in votes after the recount was done.
