Babu Owino arrested after utterances spark protests in Kiambu
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been arrested and taken to DCI headquarters for questioning after he allegedly insulted President Kenyatta sparking protests in Kiambu.
On Monday, Kiambu County residents took to the streets in Githunguri, Gatundu, Limuru, Ruiru and Kiambu towns demanded the arrest of the controversial former University of Nairobi student leader Paul Ongili, commonly known as Babu Owino, over alleged defamatory statements against President Kenyatta.
Ruiru residents have blocked Thika-Nairobi superhighway at Ruiru town, causing a huge traffic snarl-up likely to disrupt transportation on the busy road and in the capital city.
