Babu Owino issues Ksh. 40M bursary funds to 8,000 students in Embakasi East

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has issued bursary funds worth Ksh. 40 million to at least 8,000 beneficiaries.

Speaking during the Tuesday issuance, Mr. Owino stated that the funds were transferred directly to the schools that applicants indicated in their forms.

“This was done to avoid the previous practice of people disappearing with cheques. This way, we have ensured that the money is used for its intended purpose,” said the outspoken MP.

“Applicants are encouraged to check with their school accountants. Our intention this year was to leave no student behind. All applicants were successful.”

The legislator said all the 8,000 beneficiaries of the funds received an equal amount, also revealing that several roads in the constituency had been tarmacked.

The roads, according to Mr. Owino, include the road between Gate B to Kwa Ndege in Embakasi Ward, St. Michael’s Road in Mihang’o, as well as the road between Benedictor to Kinka in Utawala.

The road passing through Harambee Sacco in Upper Savanna, the new Donholm road in uppercut Savanna, and the road from Tassia stage to Tassia Catholic Church have also been developed.

Mr. Owino further slammed the new housing levy saying it is oppressive to Kenyan citizens.
