Babu Owino tells Kenyans to shun divisive politics

SONU chairman Babu Owino has called on Kenyans to shun divisive politics ahead of the 2017 General Election.

The University of Nairobi student union leader said that the country needs to unite ahead of the next polls adding that political differences are not grounds for divisions.

Owino, who has expressed interest in running for the Embakasi east Parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket, further weighed in on the ongoing political convulsion in Western Kenya, calling on the Luhya community to unite behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“When travelling to Nairobi, Luhyas and Luos use the same bus, why would they not employ this analogy in politics?” he questioned.

The ODM aspirant further cautioned the youth against being used by politicians to cause chaos while urging political leaders to promote peace ahead of next year’s polls.

Owino was part of the team that accompanied Odinga in his five-day tour of Western region as the ODM leader sought to consolidate his hold in the region, amid growing political storm.

Odinga visited three counties, Vihiga, Busia and Kakamega, meeting ODM delegates, holding roadside addresses and rallies.
