Baby dies in dawn Mathare fire

A two-year old baby died following an early morning fire incident in Nairobi’s Mathare area 10.

At least forty structures, among them a Legio Maria Church, were reduced to ashes.

It is reported that the baby got lost during the escape commotion, only for her remains to be found a few hours later.

Fire fighters from the neighboring Moi Air Base rushed to the scene to help put out the fire.

Preliminary investigations indicated a possible electric fault as the cause of the fire.
