Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri responds to President Kenyatta

Just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta lashed out at Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri for allegedly hurling insults at him, the legislator now says he will not be intimidated by the Head of State’s remarks.

After launching a cement factory in Salgaa on Tuesday, the President hit the streets of Nakuru town staging stop overs in Bahati Constituency where he warned Ngunjiri to stop insulting him

“I want you people of Bahati to tell me whether you are the ones who send this person to insult me all the time. Ask him what I did to him? Are you the one’s who send him? Because he says he is representing the people who send him,” said President Kenyatta as the crowds chanted No.

“Tell him to leave me alone. Let him do his job and let me do mine instead of him making noise on radio and TV.”

In response to the Head of State’s remarks the lawmaker, who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto, told off the President saying: “It was very shameful because he (President Kenyatta) left nothing with our people. Nothing not even promising nothing. All he said is that he will come again.”

Ngunjiri, whose security and firearms were recently withdrawn over his apparent criticism of the government,  insists that he has been “challenging and giving my opinion” but not insulting the Head of State.

“Even when he was coming to say I abused him, he did not mention the words I used. I have been challenging and giving my opinion. What is wrong with that?” posed Ngunjiri, speaking in Nakuru on Wednesday.

He added: “That is not the way to go Mr. President. Call your people and talk with them.”

During his visit to Nakuru, Kenyatta defended the Building Bridges Initiative maintaining that a united Kenya remains to be his desired legacy.
