Bamburi attack: Police gun down suspected ‘Wakali Kwanza’ gang member

Police officers in Mombasa County on Wednesday gunned down one of the suspected members of a gang that attacked Bamburi residents on Monday night.

Confirming the incident, Kisauni police boss Julius Kiragu said the deceased – commonly known as Boyka – was among three members of the dreaded Wakali Kwanza gang that were being sought by police.

He further stated that the trio was cornered Wednesday night around 8pm at Mtopanga area where Boyka was killed but his accomplices managed to escape.

The police boss added that a hunt has since been launched for the remaining suspects who fled while armed amidst fear that they may strike again.

Sources also told Citizen Digital that Boyka and the other suspects were positively identified by a number of victims of the Monday attack that left over ten people seriously injured.
