Bandit killed as rangers repulse attack in Isiolo

Rangers have shot dead a bandit at Naasulu conservancy in Isiolo County and recovered ten heads of cattle stolen after repulsing armed cattle rustlers on Thursday.

The rangers also recovered an M16 assault rifle from the bandits.

Isiolo County Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed the incident and lauded the rangers for tracking down the bandits.

“The fire exchange between the five bandits and the rangers ensued after they realized that they were being followed. One bandit died but the other four escaped,” said Natembeya.

Mr Natembeya said they are still investigating how the M16 assault rifle, a property of the US government, landed in the hands of bandits.
