Bar politicians who misuse the youth, aspirant tells IEBC

Embu County Gubernatorial Aspirant Kithinji Kiragu now wants the Independent and Electoral Commission (IEBC) to bar rogue politicians who use the youths to disrupt and cause violence in rallies from contesting in the coming August polls.

Kithinji, who is running for the seat on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket, said there are some politicians in the county who have a tendency of using the youth to disrupt their competitors’ campaign rallies to sabotage them.

According to the former World Bank Consultant, politicians usually buy illicit local brews for the youths and use them to cause chaos during campaign periods, saying such politicians should be barred from running for any elective seat.

“These politicians should be barred from contesting because buying illicit brews for youths even contradicts with the government’s fight against illicit brews all over the country,” said Kithinji.

He called upon the provincial administrators as well as leaders to be at the forefront in the fight against illicit brew within their areas.
