Baringo man in critical condition after he was shot by poisoned arrow over Ksh.50

A man from Keturwo in Baringo North is fighting for is life at the county referral hospital after he was shot with a poisoned arrow by his uncle.

According to witnesses, Rogers Kipruto argued with his attacker over Ksh.50 that he had paid for a sufuria repair.

On the fateful day, Kipruto is said to have stormed the house of his uncle demanding his sufuria back so that his family could prepare dinner.

A heated argument ensued with the attacker moving into his bedroom before emerging, armed with a bow and arrows.

In the aftermath, Kipruto was shot three times on the left hand with one of the arrows puncturing his ribs.

Reports say that he was required to swallow a different strain of poison to neutralize the poison from the arrow before he was rushed to hospital.

His uncle went on the run shortly after the incident and is still at large with police officers hot on his pursuit.

Residents of Baringo have expressed concerns over increased incidences of similar nature.

In February, at Chapin village in Bartabwa ward, Stanley Chepyegon, 22, allegedly attacked Musa Kositany, 58, with poisoned arrows, killing him.

“Kositany, known as Okola, sustained an arrow injury to the chest, and he was rushed to Kipsaraman health centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” sub county police commander Frederick Odinga said.
