Baringo MCA Peter Kagathi dies

Baringo Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Kimani Kagathi has died.

Mr Kagathi who represented Mumberes/Maji Mazuri Ward and had been hospitalised in a Nakuru hospital for close to a month before he passed on Wednesday morning after suffering high blood pressure.

The MCA, who chaired the committee on Agriculture, was eulogised by his colleagues as a leader who stood firm to defend the rights of his people.

The late Kagathi was among the individuals who testified in Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission as area councillor to champion the rights of the minority Kikuyu community in Baringo County before being elected as the area leader under the devolved system of government.

Mr Kagathi was extolled as a great leader and crusader for justice who until his demise was agitating for his people to be given title deeds.

Speaker Bill Kamket regretted that the House had lost a strong leader and promised to support the family.
