Baringo residents demand for resignation of MP, Security CEC

A faction of residents of Chemoriongon area in Baringo County today marched to the District Headquarters to demand for the removal of Tiaty MP, Asman Kamama and their County Community Leader, Peter Okwanyo from the security docket.

This comes barely three days after a 30-year-old man was ambushed and killed by armed bandits before they took off with 50 head of cattle.

Speaking during a protest staged to air out the grievances, one of the residents, Kipruto Kimosop said the two should be removed from their capacities due to what they termed as laxity in dealing with cattle rusling.

“Kamama should be removed from the Parliamentary Security Committee Chair’s seat because he has failed us a lot. Okwanyo also has been reluctant in hearing our cries,” said Kimosop.

Kimosop also argues that the raiders are from Kamama’s area, adding that the MP ought to have found a lasting solution to the recurrent problem.

It is reported that the deceased, Joseph Silale, was grazing a herd of livestock when he was waylaid and killed while trying to stop the raiders from stealing his boss’ animals.

Some residents have fled their homes following rumours that the raiders were planning another attack.

This happens even as the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) conducts a public inquiry on insecurity and violation of human rights in the county.
