Baringo Speaker Sent Packing By MCAs

Mr. Kamket was impeached after the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who accused him of fueling insecurity in the region thropugh his activities.

The impeachment motion received overwhelming support from the MCAs with 40 out of 48 voting in its support.

The motion was tabled by the nominated MCA from Margat Ward Valentine Sergon after 200 residents in the county signed the petition to remove the speaker.

Meanwhile, Tiaty MCA has criticised the move saying it signifies bad blood in the county assembly.

Cases of impeachment have been rife in the counties since 2013 with various county assembly speakers and governors being on the receiving end.

Among those who have faced impeachment scare are Kisumu county speaker Anne Adu and Embu Governor Martin Wambora who is fighting the impeachment in court.
