Baringo spends Ksh 36 million on street lighting

The County Government of Baringo has spent Ksh 36 million in lighting up six towns.

According to the County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning, Geoffrey Bartenge, said the money was used in putting up the lighting system in six towns.

Addressing a meeting in Eldama Ravine, Bartenge said the lighting will improve business in the towns as traders and consumers will extend their operation hours.

“We have just concluded the lighting of the Eldama Ravine town. We have also lit up Mogotio, Kabarnet, Marigat, and we are soon doing so in Chemolingot and Kabartonjo towns. The total cost is Ksh 36 million,” he said.

He also said the county government has put in place beautification plans for all towns within the county so as to enhance the county ambiance and in turn attract more visitors and investors.

“The biggest project right now in Eldama Ravine is to ensure that the town is beautiful. A lot of beautification projects are going on,” added Bartenge.
