Be careful about State House visits, Odinga to leaders

CORD leader Raila Odinga had cautioned leaders over increased visits to State House.

Speaking in Kisii on Monday, Odinga urged leaders to desist from attempts by Jubilee to win them over saying the Jubilee government has done minimal for them over the past four years.

“We want long lasting developments which Jubilee cannot offer, and that is why they focus on inviting leaders to State House in order to entice them to join them,” he said.

“If you are invited for talks at State House, you are free to attend; but do not be swayed into supporting the government in the promise that your region will experience development.”

He noted that calls for Gusii unity are misplaced and aimed at alienating the region from other parts of the country.

“There is nothing like Gusii unity because Gusii community belongs to Kenya. You should treat Jubilee’s promises with a pinch of salt since they are not genuine.”

The sentiment comes just days after a section of leaders from the Gusii community visited State House, adding to the growing numbers of visits to the House on the hill.

Pundits have seen the invites as a plan by Jubilee to entice regions, deemed CORD strongholds into supporting the government in the 2017 elections.

Section of leaders from Coast region, Luhya, Luo communities have also made visits to the State in the past one and a half years.
