Be ready to fight for your own seats in 2017, Ida Odinga tells nominated leaders

The wife of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mrs. Ida Odinga, has told political leaders nominated under the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) not to expect another nomination come 2017.

Mrs. Odinga stated that nominated leaders must now prepare to fight for their own slots as the first nomination they received gave them a platform to launch their political careers.

She stated that after five years in office, those who had been nominated in 2013 should have developed enough political muscle to fight for their own space.

The wife of the ODM leaders stated that 2017 nominations will be reserved for fresh people so that the party can continue to develop new political leaders.

To up their chances of clinching seats in the August 2017 polls, Mrs. Odinga urged nominated leaders to aggressively carry out development projects as these would win them favour in the eyes of the electorate.

She urged nominated leaders to work hand in hand with their elected colleagues because this partnership would ensure that development is achieved.

Mrs. Odinga also advised women to come out and vie for various political positions come 2017, saying that they have the potential to lead this country.

The next General Elections are slated for Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

With slightly over 16 months to the polls, political parties have begun rallying their troops on the grounds in preparation for the battle for political seats.
