Former Nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi has been elected the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker.
Elachi emerged victorious after garnering 90 votes followed by her closest contender Abdi Ali who garnered 27 votes out of the 122 votes cast.
In her speech after taking oath of office, Elachi urged the MCAs to deliver to the electorate as she vowed to promote Nairobi to the desired and capital city standards.
She further promised to promote better-working relationship with the national government.
Elachi had on August 8 vied for Dagoretti North Constituency seat on a Jubilee Party ticket but lost to incumbent Simba Arati.
