Ben Gethis sister finally appears in court over NYS scam

The National Youth Service (NYS) scandal suspect and sister to businessman Ben Gethi, Jedidah Wangari, was on Wednesday, December 21 charged in court in connection with the loss of Ksh 791 million at the service.

Wangari, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a Ksh 300,000 cash bail.

She appeared before the court after several warrants of arrest were issued against her.

The prosecution had in previous case hearing informed the court that Wangari was out of the country, but the court dismissed the excuse saying that the state has adequate machinery to arrest and avail her in court.

Wangari is charged alongside businessman Ben Gethi, Josephine Kabura and eight others, who are all out on similar cash bails or an alternative bond of Ksh 1 million after all pleading innocent to 15 counts relating to dubious transactions at the National Youth Service.
