Bernie Sanders: We have a narrow path to victory

An interview with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders aired on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press,’ on Sunday (April 24) during which Sanders described his chances of winning the nomination as ”narrow.”

“While we have a narrow path to victory, we’re going to fight for the through that path, we hope to win,” Sanders told “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd.

“The fact that we have brought millions of young people who I think many of the pundits had thought were kind of apathetic not interested in politics. Well you know what, these young people know they’re the future of this country they want to shape the future and I’m very proud that we have been able to bring them into the political process,” Sanders said.

Todd went on to press Sanders on why, despite his message, he lost most of the primaries to rival Hillary Clinton.

“Well because poor people don’t vote. I mean that’s just a fact, that’s a sad reality of American society and that’s what we have to transform,” Sanders said. “In the last election in 2014, 80 percent of poor people did not vote,” Sanders said.

Sanders will need to defeat his Clinton by large margins in the upcoming primaries that include delegate rich California, where Sanders says he likes his chances.
