Bhang netted in a hearse along Nairobi-Mombasa road

Police have intercepted bhang, along the Nairobi-Mombasa road, which was being transported in a hearse.

The hearse belonging to Janam Funeral Services is said to have been ferrying mourners from Kisumu to Mombasa when it was intercepted in Voi on Sunday.

Two bags of bhang were found after police carried out a thorough search of the luggage with the owner of the bags escaping during the search.

The driver and his conductor are being held at Voi Police Station with mourners being left to find alternative means of travel.

The hearse was on its way to Mombasa after transporting the mourners to Kisumu last week for a burial service. The mourners expressed their disbelief at the events saying they were not aware that there was bhang in their bus.
