Bhang worth Ksh.1.8M seized in Rongo, one suspect arrested

One suspected bhang trafficker was arrested in Rongo and bhang weighing 183 kilograms with an estimated street value of Ksh.1.8million seized.

Rongo OCPD Peter Kirui revealed that officers on patrol along the Rongo-Kisii highway waylaid the vehicle that was ferrying bhang towards Kisii County.

He said the driver of the vehicle however managed to escape after hitting a tree.

The vehicle has been towed to the police pending further investigation.

Kirui added that the suspect will be arraigned before Rongo Law Courts on Monday to answer to charges.

Meanwhile the sub county police boss has appealed to the locals to work closely with the police to fight drug trafficking  in the region saying it has negatively affected the youth.

Mr. Kirui further warned that the police are now on high alert and there will be a more thorough inspection of vehicles along the Rongo-Kisii road.
