Bhang worth Ksh.13M seized in Kiambu

Police in Kiambu have seized bhang worth about Ksh.13.5million in Juja sub-county.

According to Kiambu Administration Police Commandant Josphat Kinyua, the bhang was discovered following a crackdown at the home of a notorious peddler.

The officers raided the home of the suspect after a tipoff by the members of the public.

However, the suspect managed to escape the dragnet.

Upon breaking into the two-roomed house, they found 16 bales of bhang, another 3578 rolls as well as half a sack of the unpacked product.

According to the police boss, the manner in which the bhang was packed indicated that it was ready for transportation to different parts of the country.

He added that the suspect had previously been arrested in 2016 with 5 sacks of bhang.

“The suspect has several pending cases in court, he is a well-known criminal in trafficking, we are therefore dealing with this case with caution and seriousness,” Kinyua said.

Police also arrested an employee found at the premises.

Officers have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
