Bhang worth over Ksh.6 million destroyed in Migori

Bhang worth Ksh.6 million was on Friday destroyed by Police in Rongo town, Migori County.

The mid-morning exercise which followed a court order, was overseen by Rongo Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat and Rongo Assistant County Commissioner Mr. Peter Nyandat.

Speaking to the media, Rongo Resident Magistrate Mr. Langat confirmed that the over Ksh.6 million banned drug was presented in court last year as evidence and the suspects sentenced to jail terms of between five and ten years.

Mr. Langat remained adamant of the court’s commitment to deal with those found guilty of trafficking bhang as he applauded the police for their relentless fight against narcotics in Migori County.

The Resident Magistrate added that the court is also working on modalities to deal with cases of suspected drug traffickers who disappear after being granted bond by the court.

On his part, Mr. Nyandat assured residents of police commitment to win the fight against drugs in the area.

He called on the locals to continue supporting the police in the fight against drug trafficking.
