Bhang Worth Over Sh1m Netted in Nyeri, Kajiado

In Nyeri, police netted 94 stones of bhang worth Sh100,000 and arrested two suspects.

The bhang was nabbed at Kiwara area within Nyeri town and is suspected to have been brought from an unknown destination for use within Nyeri County.

According to Nyeri Central OCPD Charles Rotich, the suspects were transporting the narcotic together with another suspect who managed to escape before police made the arrest.

He further added that the suspects were using village routes to conduct illegal businesses as it would have been difficult for them to use normal routes.

Police have launched investigations to establish the source of the drug and its market.

Mr Rotich said that the suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday.

BHANG ON TRANSIT

Meanwhile, two men were arrested in Kajiado town transporting bhang worth Sh1.3 million.

The two were arrested after they declined to be searched at a roadblock and instead sped off. They were later cornered where they surrendered.

County Commander for Administration Police Samuel Kimwere confirmed the incident saying the men were headead to Isinya area.

He further said that bhang traders are using big vehicles to transport the narcotic, adding that police are on alert and are checking every vehicle.
