BIG NAMES fall as vocal Governors upset by new entrants

Several sitting Governors are facing an uphill task as new entrants upset them following a hotly contested election held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

Among the biggest losers is Chama Cha Mashinani’s Isaac Ruto of Bomet who ditched the ruling Jubilee Party for the Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA).

Ruto was upset by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Joyce Laboso, who has an assailable lead of 168,539 against Ruto’s 81,681 votes with 95% of the polling stations reporting as at 10:20 am.

Governor Ruto, who served for two terms as the chairman of the Council of Governors, fell out with Deputy President William Ruto accusing the Jubilee Party of micromanaging the counties.

In Kisumu, ODM’s Anyang Nyongo has taken an early lead with 244,952 from 88% of cast votes followed by rival Jack Ranguma, who is also the incumbent, with 137,846 votes.

In Migori, ODM’s Okoth Obado is headed for the win leading with 169,334 with 86% of cast votes followed by Independent candidate, Ochilo Ayacko with 97,688 votes.

In Kiambu, Jubilee Party’s Ferdinand Waititu is headed for landslide victory leading with 707,839 against the incumbent William Kabogo’s 189,662 votes with 92% of the polling stations already reporting.

In Kitui, Narc’s Charity Ngilu is leading with 142,798 votes, followed by Independent candidate David Musila with 94,466 votes while Wiper Party’s Dr Julius Malombe comes third with 61,506 votes.

In Nairobi, Jubilee’s Mike Sonko is currently leading with 792,847 against the incumbent Evans Kidero of ODM who so far has garnered 635,990 with 3076 out of 3378 polling stations reporting.

In Meru, Jubilee’s Kiraitu Murungi is leading with 242,365 votes followed by the incumbent Peter Munya of PNU with 187,140 with 1,254 out of 1,473 polling stations reporting.
