Bishop Korir taught me how to pray, says DP Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto has on Saturday eulogized the late Eldoret Bishop Cornelius Korir as a champion of peace and a strong leader who offered guidance to other leaders.
Speaking at the final mass in Eldoret, DP Ruto told mourners that the loss was personal as the late Bishop was a close family friend, adding that he was the one who taught him how to recite the Lord’s Prayer.
“My wife and children knew the Bishop very well because one day Bishop got a prayer and came home and taught us the Lord’s Prayer in a different way… how to say it seven times when in difficult times,” recalled DP Ruto.
The DP narrated how the late Bishop repeatedly emphasized on upholding peace, saying that blood should never be shed again because of politics of hatred, divisions, tribalism and fighting.
“We will commit and recommit that Kenya will not go down that path again. Intelligent people learn from other people’s mistakes, fools learn from their own mistakes, idiots repeat the mistakes they make,” pledged Ruto.
The DP further promised Kenyans that he would support President Uhuru Kenyatta in fostering peace and in building bridges of friendship, brotherhood and unity.
