Bishop urges Uhuru to respect Judiciary

Catholic Church Bishop, Cornelius Korir, has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to stop attacking the Judiciary but instead use proper channels stipulated in the law to raise dissatisfaction with the rulings of the court.

The Bishop says disrespecting institutions established under the Constitution and showing the populace that the courts are not working by attacking them directly in public rallies can be a recipe for chaos.

He urged them to embrace dialogue with respect to their initial statements regarding the importance of respecting the Judiciary.

Substantially, Kalenjin Elders Association chairman, Major John Seii, criticized a demand by a section of political leaders that voters stay in polling station after they have voted to guard votes terming it a possible point of tension that should be avoided by law enforcers.

Seii urged politicians to tolerate and respect each other during the entire campaign period giving an example of Uasin Gishu County where several cases of political parties’ followers had been reported for destroying posters of other candidates running under the same political docket.
